How to Change Your ARK Server Settings Print

Learn how to change the configuration settings on your ARK: Survival Evolved server!

On an ARK: Survival Evolved server there are many setting changes that can be made including the server name, setting multipliers, difficulty, and many more settings!

 

Editing the Ark.properties:

1. Go on your server's control panel and click FTP File Access.

2. In the FTP File Access, locate the ark.properties file.

3. Click to edit the ark.properties file.

4. Within the ark.properties, you can adjust your main server settings including server_name, map, automatic_updates, and more. For example, if you wanted to enable allow_cave_flyers on your server you would change this from false to true.

5. Once you're done making changes press Save & Close, exit your FTP, and then restart your server.

 

Editing the GameUserSettings.ini:

1. Go on your server's control panel and click FTP File Access.

2. In the FTP File Access, go to the location /ark/ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/ and in this folder locate the GameUserSettings.ini file.

3. Click to edit the GameUserSettings.ini file.

4. Within the GameUserSettings.ini file, locate the settings you wish to change and adjust these settings.

5. You can find each ARK GameUserSettings.ini setting that you can modify and information on each setting here.

6. By default, ARK moves a majority of its main file settings from under the [ServerSettings] section of the file to the bottom of the GameUserSettings.ini file. To ensure those settings are enabled:

  1. Locate the settings you wish to change and enable(such as XPMultiplier, HarvestHealthMultiplier, and HarvestAmountMultiplier).

  2. Copy each of these settings you wish to modify.

  3. Scroll until you locate the [ServerSettings] section and paste those settings at the very bottom of that section.

  4. Once those settings have been pasted into the correct area of the GameUserSettings.ini file, modify those settings to your liking. This will ensure those settings load correctly on start-up.

5. Once you're done making changes press Save & Close, exit your FTP, and then restart your server.

 

Editing the Game.ini:

1. Go on your server's control panel and click FTP File Access.

2. In the FTP File Access, go to the location /ark/ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/ and in this folder locate the GameUserSettings.ini file.

3. Click to edit the Game.ini file.

4. Within the Game.ini file, locate the settings you wish to change and adjust these settings. You can find each ARK Game.ini settings that you can modify and information on each setting hereFor example you can change the bPvEDisableFriendlyFire setting to False to disable friendly fire.

5. Once you're done making changes press Save & Close, exit your FTP, and then restart your server.

You have now successfully changed the settings on your ARK server!
